AP.jpgConstruct your own AP Go-Po Exam

So, you decided to take the AP Exam - congratulations! Your assignment as we approach the AP Exam is to construct your own version of this year's exam. Here's what you will be doing...

Your exam should have the following

  1. A cover page with a name for your exam (along with the names of the members of your group)
  2. 80 Multiple Choice Questions (20 more than the actual exam, but practice makes perfect!)
    • Unit I (14 Questions) - Chapters 1, 2, and 3
    • Unit II (10 Questions) - Chapters 4, 18, and 19
    • Unit III (10 Questions) - Chapters 5, 6, 9, and 10
    • Unit IV (8 Questions) - Chapters 7 and 8
    • Unit V (15 Questions) - Chapters 11, 15, and 17
    • Unit VI (15 Questions) - Chapters 12, 13, and 20
    • Unit VII (8 Questions) - Chapters 14 and 16
  3. Multiple Choice Questions should alternate, with one question per bullet before repeating the cycle again. Rinse and repeat cycle, dropping Units from the rotation the when questions run out.
  4. Four Short Response questions (one of which needs to use a poll, map, graph, or political cartoon), similar in style to the questions asked over the course of this year (five "points" to answer per question).
    • One question created from Unit I (basis and founding of American Government)
    • One question created from Units III or IV (how American Government gets people involved)
    • One question created from Units V or VI (Congress and the Presidency)
    • One question created from Units II or VII (Court system and laws)
  5. Provide an answer key in the following format for the multiple choice questions:
    • The correct answer / Unit that the question comes from
  6. Provide outline answers for all four of the Short Response questions
  7. A bibliography of sources (for multiple choice questions, essay questions, maps, documents, etc.)

Assigned roles (for groups of four)

  1. Develop multiple choice questions (42) for Units I - IV
    • All questions should have five choices and match the amount of questions allowed per unit
    • To make the job of the "central organizer" easier, have each unit separated from the other ones
    • Include multiple choice answers with your questions (make sure they are correct too!)
    • You may use either the "Wilson Study Guides" found on this website OR the Test Banks provided by me via email
  2. Develop multiple choice questions (38) for Units IV - VI
  3. Develop four essay questions
    • Based on the format found above (five scored answers per question)
    • Outline of how to answer each of the four questions
    • Can use other sources for questions (but not for the outline), but make sure you state where you got it from
  4. Central organizer - the person who will format everyone's work into a cohesive format
    • - use this as a guide to format your project
    • Check for spelling errors and grammatical problems / double check answers
    • In charge of turning in BOTH a paper copy and a digital copy for their team on (or prior to) April 14th

Scoring

  1. Students will be graded on their own work depending on their role in the project (25 points)
    • It is advised that you "carbon copy" Mr. Freccia when sending your part to the "central organizer" in order to prove promptness
    • "Central organizer" deadlines need to be met, otherwise a deduction will occur for your portion
    • If a problem develops with a member of your group OR if if the work they turn-in requires extra effort for other members, the "central organizer" should notify Mr. Freccia ASAP
    • This is an EFFORT grade - you do what you are told (and do a quality job) you will get full credit
  2. Level of difficulty (25 points)
    • Five groups will take your exam
    • The combined average of how the other teams fair will result in your score
    • The average score is a 2.64 on this exam (52.8% of the questions correct or 42 questions out of 80 on the multiple choice)
      • Within five questions of median - 25 points
      • Within ten questions of median - 20 points
      • Within fifteen questions of median - 15 points
      • Over or under fifteen questions from median - 5 points
  3. Group score (25 points)
    • All members of the group take the exam together
    • The combined average of your scores on four exams will result in your grade
      • 70-80 (A "Mr. Freccia" five on the multiple choice / 25 points + 10 extra credit)
